In SOM II, the integration of parts relied on communication between polarities, and that could include responding to what's being heard, rather than how it is said. My own experience, time and again, is that my internal voices have a familiar sense, as if I were executing a feel-hear circuit on input of an internal voice. My world has consequences and less of a safety net (more of a jeering crowd, sometimes), so I need my troublesome voices "troublesome" or an even better integration with them. The difference between me consciously agreeing to do it and me being the person speaking with the voice who (still) wants to do it, is a chasm.
